Product Description Are you ready for the real story of the Oakland Raiders? As one of the NFL's greatest franchises, the Raiders have a long history of legends and goats, great comebacks and colossal failures, NFL championships and heartbreaking losses. The memories will come flooding back as fans read about the hard-hitting, hard-partying teams coached by John Madden; renegade owner Al Davis, who fought numerous legal battles, moved the franchise twice, and still managed to keep the team on top; the three Super Bowl championships--and the two blowout Super Bowl losses; and some of the most colorful personalities from NFL history--Stabler, Blanda, Biletnikoff, Tatum, Allen, Upshaw, Rice, and many more. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Oakland Raiders is a must for every fan who wants an unflinching look at the greatest--and worst--players, coaches, and moments in Raiders history.

BOOK NOT DVD December 20, 2009 CPR 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
This order was placed while viewing DVD's of the Oakland Raiders. It was my understanding it was a DVD. Very unhappy that it's not what I thought I was ordering as it was a Christmas gift.
This book was worse than garbage... November 11, 2009 John Lutes 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
First of all, I could have written a better story on the Raiders. The flow was completely weird. I read it in a day, and knew I was ripped off very early in the book. But this is what you get with unauthorized biographies. Garbage.
He has TOP TEN LISTS like "Top Ten Raider Games", but doesn't indicate who picked the games or how they were ranked.
I would love to have seen the story straight from Al Davis and John Madden, but no....
He tried to abuse and humiliate Al Davis, by implying Mr. Davis was infatuated with Hitler and Nazi schemes of domination.
If you're going to accuse Al Davis of being like a Nazi, shouldn't you have some references and proof?
There was so much of a story not written. Nothing about Ben Davidson, Otis Sistrunk, Lyle Alzado. Very little about Ray Guy.
This author must have been drunk when writing it. I'd like my money back.

Maybe I just got a bad copy of the book, but it skips around so much there is no flow to the history. The Heidi Game, Sea of Hands, and other incidents are covered in 5 different places in a choppy, poorly organized manner that doesn't flow.
In one part of the book there is one paragraph about Ray Guy:
"Ray Guy was drafted in the first round of 1973, a rare thing for a punter but a testament to his skills, which he utilized to the great benefit of his team over the years. It should land him in the Hall of Fame. For 14 years, Guy mastered the "coffin corner kick" and gave his team great field position time and time again."
But that's it on Guy in that section, for some reason the next 4 paragraphs ramble on about Bubba Smith.
The book contains: run on sentences, choppy and scattered writing, typos, misspellings and incoherence of thought.
I was very disappointed with this book and have already recycled it.
If you want a behind the scenes read of the glory days of Raider Football (1970's) I'd suggest trying to find a copy of "Snake" by Ken Stabler or John Madden's "Hey Wait a Minute."
Maybe I just got a bad copy... but you might want to peruse this one in person before you buy it.
Must Have for all Raider Nation!! January 10, 2009 Matthew James Barnes (Ft. Worth, TX) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book was bought as a christmas gift for my brother and once I got it, I could not stop reading it! I consider myself a decent Oakland fan (I admit I do not own any spiked silver and black shoulder pads) and I loved the writer's point of view and all the rankings and just biased opinion that affirms the whole world is out to confront us. GO RAIDERS!!!
Best Book December 25, 2008 John Losea 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a comprehensive overview of the RAIDER organization and highlights from their history. You also get the "back story" that many never knew which is very interesting. If you like the Raiders at all you will love reading this book.
